Things to do in Vrsar

As you explore timeless Vrsar you will be delighted and charmed by its pretty courtyards and ivy-clad stone houses decorated with ornate balconies. Almost everywhere you will find a little corner full of charm and history.

You can find plenty to see and do here, whether you want a relaxing day in the sunshine or a more active day of sightseeing. Stroll along the pretty promenade, shop in the small markets for local produce or keepsakes and enjoy a drink in one of the elegant bars which have a great atmosphere.

Alternatively, take a trip to the unspoilt islands, which are all within reach of the town, such as charming St George Island or famous Lim Fjord. History and culture in Vrsar

Vrsar has been inhabited since prehistoric times and has been known as Ursarla, Ursarlum and Vrsarium because of its natural springs. Like much of Croatia, it has a long and turbulent history since the Romans came here in the 1st century BC. It has been under Byzantine and Slovenian rule, gone through the hands of the French, Venetian Doge and Austria-Hungarian Empire, and occupied by Italy and Germany. It was under Yugoslavia until 1991 when Croatia declared its independence. Legend has it that Casanova summered here in 1743 and 1744 and you will find many references to the famous lover dotted around the town.

Family holidays in Vrsar

Vrsar is the perfect base for a family villa holiday, especially if you like getting outdoors. Close by you will find popular Dino Park, which has life-size electronic dinosaurs designed to delight small children. There are also many family-friendly beaches with playgrounds and other great facilities. Spend a fun day on Koversada Beach and City Beach and enjoy swimming in the clear azure waters. Pedalo rides are also available at Valkanela Beach, which is always a fun activity for children and teenagers alike. Plus, there are hiking and cycling trails suitable for children of all ages where you can have fun looking at the local wildlife and the many colourful wildflowers which thrive in this temperate climate.

For the adventurous at heart, there’s plenty of activities to keep you occupied. Enjoy panoramic flights to get a bird's eye view of this stunning region, or perhaps challenge yourself and go skydiving. There are so many scenic cycling trails along the coast from Vsar to Porec or Lim Bay, as well as inland trails through lush vineyards and ancient olive groves. If you prefer the water, why not go diving or snorkelling in the clear Adriatic waters to see the incredible sea life just below the waves?
