Family villas in Sicily

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and one of Italy’s most fascinating places to explore.

Mount Etna dominates the eastern coast landscape, while historic port towns, citrus groves and old stone streets stretch across the island. Beaches range from long sandy bays to volcanic coves, with clear water made for lazy afternoons by the sea.

A Villacation in Sicily gives you the freedom to experience it all your way. Morning coffee on the terrace. Laughter-filled afternoons by your private pool. Evenings wandering through historic port towns before heading back to your villa for dinner under the stars.

Our hand-selected villas in Sicily are spread across the island, from historic Syracuse, a UNESCO World Heritage city filled with Greek and Roman ruins, to the beautiful coastal resort of Acireale overlooking the Ionian Sea.

Your villa. Your space. Your Sicily Villacation.

Your Sicily questions answered

Where is Sicily?

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, located just off the southern tip of mainland Italy and separated from the mainland by the Strait of Messina.

Is Sicily expensive?

Sicily is often more affordable than many Italian destinations. Eating out, local markets and attractions tend to be reasonably priced, although costs can vary depending on location and season.

How long is the flight to Sicily from the UK?

Direct flights from the UK usually take between 3 and 3.5 hours, depending on your departure airport.

How many airports are there in Sicily?

Sicily has two main international airports: Palermo Airport (PMO) in the north-west and Catania Airport (CTA) on the east coast near Mount Etna.

When is the best time to visit Sicily?

The most popular months are June to September, when daytime temperatures typically range between 25–32°C (77–90°F). May and October are also excellent times to visit if you prefer slightly cooler weather, around 20–26°C (68–79°F).

What makes Sicily great for a family villa holiday?

Sicily has a natural rhythm that suits family villa holidays perfectly.

Days can begin slowly with breakfast on the terrace before heading out to explore. Beaches are easy to reach, many with shallow water that’s ideal for younger swimmers. Historic towns offer castles, ruins and winding streets where curious minds can roam, while lively piazzas make great spots for a relaxed lunch or an evening gelato.

There’s plenty for more active days too. Waterparks, boat trips, wildlife reserves and even Mount Etna provide memorable experiences for families travelling with children of all ages.

The real advantage, though, is returning to your villa at the end of a fun-packed day. Your own pool. Your own table for dinner. Space for everyone to relax.

That’s what makes a Sicily family Villacation work so well.

What are your top five recommendations for a holiday in Sicily?

Syracuse and Ortigia – Wander through this UNESCO World Heritage city where Greek and Roman ruins sit beside lively piazzas and small cafés. The ancient theatre and the streets of Ortigia are a must.

Mount Etna – Europe’s tallest active volcano rises above Sicily’s eastern coast. Guided walks and viewpoints reveal wide views across the island and a landscape shaped by centuries of eruptions.

Val di Noto Baroque Towns – Towns including Noto, Modica and Ragusa are known for their golden stone buildings and elegant Baroque architecture rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake.

Riserva Naturale di Vendicari or dello Zingaro – Two of Sicily’s best coastal nature reserves, with quiet walking trails, clear water and the chance to spot wildlife including flamingos.

Valley of the Temples – One of the most impressive archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, home to remarkably preserved Greek temples including the Temple of Concordia.
