Vasilikos is not only mentioned in songs from locals and writers but it is a prehistoric and Mycenaean settlement. If you are looking for further adventure perhaps hire a car and head to Porto Vromi or Cape Skinari where you can pick up a boat trip to Smuggler’s Cove, the most photographed beach in the whole of Greece. The name comes from the ship that washed up on these shores in 1983. The wreck lies half-buried in an arc of golden sand, framed by steep white limestone cliffs. It’s a striking picture, which can only be seen from out at sea.
If you are looking for a bit more of a buzz, St Nicholas Beach has plenty to do, with sunbeds, parasols, loud beats, and possibly the best diving opportunities in Greece. A large villa in Vasilikos provides you with the perfect base from which to explore.
