Protaras is all about slow, sun-filled days by the sea, leisurely lunches and exploring. One of the area’s landmarks is the Church of Prophet Elias, set high above the town. The views stretch across the coastline and are particularly lovely at sunset.
Back at sea level, secluded coves and sandy beaches provide the setting for unhurried afternoons, where little ones can enjoy paddling along the shore while you catch some rays with a good book.
The nearby main town of Paralimni is small enough to discover comfortably on foot and is dominated by the metropolitan, three-aisled church dedicated to St. George, the patron saint of Paralimni. The gothic church of St George, built a century ago, sits next to the 13th century chapel of Ayia Anna. Built using local limestone, it now serves as a museum where icons of the 16th and the 19th Centuries, holy relics and old books are exhibited.
There are a wealth of beautiful and fascinating attractions and places to visit. The Monastery and the Old and New Church dedicated to Virgin Mary, the Makronissos Archaeological Tombs and Venetian Aqueduct, as well as the Sculpture Park, Love Bridge and the iconic ‘’I Love Ayia Napa’’ sculpture in the Central Square are all worth a visit.
