Keri is a small village located south west from the town of Zakynthos, overlooking the Ionian Sea. Characterised by its old, stone built houses and narrow streets, the lush olive groves and vineyards in this area produce some of the best quality olive oil and wine in Zakynthos. The beach at Keri has a shoreline covered with small round pebbles, with sunbeds and umbrellas to rent. There is also a nice selection of tavernas nearby, perfect if you are looking to dine by the sea.

Things to do in Keri

Despite being fairly small in size, there is actually a lot to see and do in Keri. The town itself has plenty going on to keep you entertained during your holiday and it makes for a great base for exploring the rest of the island. The problem will be fitting it all into one villa holiday, which is probably the main reason why people choose to return here year after year.

From Keri, you can visit the opposite island of Marathonissi by boat. This is a small island with lush vegetation, sandy beaches, beautiful sea caves and crystal clear, blue waters, that look and feel like paradise. A boat trip around the magnificent Blue Caves and the wonderful natural arches of Marathia, sculpted by the sea over the years, is an absolute must.

Keri is part of Laganas bay, which forms part of the Greek National Marine Park and is home to the endangered Caretta turtles that breed there. Keri is full of warmth, an ideal location for your next Greek villa holiday, where natural beauty matches the welcome of the local hospitality.

History and Culture in Keri

The old houses in Keri survived the earthquake of 1953 and are great samples of the local traditional architectures. The Church of the Virgin Keriotissa offers wonderful views over the town of Keri, and most of what you will see today is the result of renovations in the 18th century.. At the church, you will find a gold plated baroque style temple that was added in 1750 by Ioannis Gropas and Nikolaos Logothetis. Our villas in Keri are well positioned to explore everything that the town has to offer.
