During the day, a visit to the prehistoric Cales Coves provides a great place for snorkelling and diving in one of the island's most beautiful areas.
Visit the ruins of the early-Christian Basílica de Son Bou which lie near to the town, then head inland, to the east, to the prehistoric village of Torre d’en Galmés. Here lies an ancient ruined settlement known for its stone towers or talayots, one of the largest settlements in Menorca. From Son Bou you are within easy reach of the capital of Mahon, where there are many historic sites to see such as the Baroque 17th Century church of Santa Maria.
The spacious beach is great for kids and perfect for a spot of sand-castle building. The sea has a large, shallow section perfect for younger children to paddle safely in. Take a pedalo out and bob around on the Menorcan waters and enjoy the view of the beautiful beach from a different angle. In the hot summer months there is a floating water park from which the kids can jump into the water. Club San Jaime, situated in the resort of Son Bou, has children's play areas and water chutes to keep the little ones entertained. The main attraction here is the Maze Theme Park.
