Surrounded by hills of Cypress trees, vines and olive groves lies the cinematic Umbrian town of Orvieto – perched above a cliff top overlooking the surrounding valley. Orvieto is one of the brightest jewels in Umbria’s crown, and romantic couples and families will love our villas in Orvieto. The town is classically Umbrian, with a jumbled medieval old town hiding palazzos and Gothic frescoed churches, lorded over by the impressive Duomo di Orvieto – seen from the far reaches of the valley. Our Orvieto villas offer gorgeous panoramic views of the countryside but are also located close to the town itself, offering privacy, space, scenery but also a slice of the action.

Things to do in Orvieto

Quintessentially Umbrian, Orvieto is a treasure trove of Renaissance and Gothic buildings, cobbled streets and grand old buildings hiding incredible works of Italian art. When staying in one of our villas in Orvieto we recommend hiring a car, allowing you to explore the town and surrounding area. In the town, make a beeline for the historic centre and 14th-century duomo with its mesmerising mosaics and bronze sculptures. Dining in Orvieto is also sublime, all rich local cuisine like salami, sausages, mushroom, truffle and fresh pasta, and there are fantastic eateries in the old town.

From your Orvieto villa, it’s an easy journey to the fascinating world beneath the clifftop, where you can take a guided tour through caves, tunnels and cellars. Alternatively, there’s a handful of beautiful nature reserves nearby. The white wine Orvieto is also pretty famous making it a gastronomic destination in Umbria, hosting a huge food festival sponsored by Slow Food in April. Other festivals to look out for on your villa holiday in Orvieto include a winter jazz festival and the Palio dell'Oca horse racing festival.

Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Umbrian hills on your Orvieto villa holiday, with most of our villas coming with a private pool.
